How To: Track Travel Goals in a Bullet Journal

I just got back from a mini-vacation with my husband. We had the opportunity to travel south and enjoy the South Carolina coast with our dear friends who live down that way. During our 5 hour drive, we got to talking about how much we enjoy traveling and how excited we are to be able to do more and more traveling now that we both have jobs that allow for it. We even started planning a few weekend trips for the winter. Now, we all know that I’m a list maker, and Bullet Journal junkie. For a while now, I have been tracking my wanderlust list, the one I posted way back when, in my Bullet Journal to help me keep track of these goals.

Netherlands Trip Guide Part 3: What to Eat and Drink in Amsterdam

It’s that time already, time for part 3 of my Amsterdam trip guide. A year past our honeymoon, feels like well past time to share this information, but I’m still so excited to share all of this information with all of you, and relive my experience while doing so. As a huge shipping port city and tourist destination in the Netherlands, Amsterdam is a melting pot of cultures. This means there is something to eat for everyone. My traveling style is very much food focused. As soon as I finish breakfast, I’m planning lunch, and then, as soon as I finish Lunch, I’m wondering, “What’s for dinner?” We experienced a ton of awesome sights during our visit, and the colors and sounds of our memories are doubly reinforced by the tastes and smells we experienced. As I mentioned in part 1, I originally planned to review my Amsterdam post all in one, however, I found it impossible to fit all of that action into a reasonable sized post. Instead, I decided to break it up into sections. This is part 3, and I am excited to talk about all that there is to see and do in Amsterdam proper. Part 1, covered travel and accommodations, planning and expectations. Part 2 covered the sights and museums to visit, and part 4 will cover day trips from Amsterdam. Let’s get started!

Exploring Merida, Mexico

As I am writing this, I am on a plane. I found out a while back that I had been selected out of all of my coworkers for a work exchange program to our sister office in Merida, Mexico. I’ve had so much else going on at home that I never even had time to think about it! Believe it or not, I’ve never been on a work trip like this one before, and I am beyond excited. Due to legal restrictions, I can’t share too much about my employer on here, but I will say that I work for an excellent company that specializes in educational travel programs around the world. I decided tomorrow would be the perfect opportunity to share my day with you and talk a bit more about the international travel process, and the history of Merida, Mexico, since I will be touring some historical sites. I didn’t book these tickets, my company did, so I can’t talk too much about that process, but follow along with me while I spend a day in Merida, Mexico!

Highs and Lows

I am getting ready to complete my next 90 day goals and I was thinking a lot about where I was this time last year. Surprise, surprise right? Anyway, this got me thinking about the good and bad things that happened last year and since I’ve been feeling a little down lately since I’m not progressing the way I would like to I decided I would write out the highs and lows from last year.

Netherlands Trip Guide Part 1: Preparation

It’s been over a year since our honeymoon, so It’s about damn time for me to write a trip guide based on our honeymoon in the Netherlands. We went in early spring of last year, so April, 10th through April, 23rd of 2017, and were lucky enough to experience the beauty of tulip season, as well as the March for Science in the museum square. It was my husband’s first trip to Europe, and we put a lot of thought into the planning of trip, if not the execution. For a honeymoon, it was truly magical, and I have memories that I would never want to give up. I am excited to share some of our experiences with you to help you plan your own magical Netherlands adventure, or even just so you can live vicariously.

How to Plan a Cheap Weekend in Washington D.C.!

If you don’t know already, I live in central Virginia, which is only a few hours from Washington D.C., the capital of our country. My grandfather worked in D.C. when I was a child, and I’ve had the opportunity to visit on countless school trips while growing up, but my husband has not. We’ve been in the area a few times, but this year for his birthday we decided to go up and really try to do the thing. As usual with our vacations what really happened was more like, kind of doing the thing, and then take a nap. We still had a great time, so I figured I would share our experience with you.

Hygge and me

If you’ve been reading popsugar or any other lifestyle blogs you may have some familiarity with the term hygge, also known as koselig in Norwegian. It roughly translates to cozy in English and it alludes to a cozy feeling and minimalist lifestyle adopted by northern European cultures.

Saint Louis Trip

This past August, my mother invited my Husband and I to drive with her to St. Louis, Missouri with her for her high school reunion. I went to college at the University of Missouri, so this seemed like a perfect opportunity to show James my old stomping grounds and have a much needed mini vacation. We took our Nissan Sentra, which is surprisingly roomy, and plotted our course along hwy 64 to 81 which takes you straight through West Virginia, kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri.
