September fitness challenge

Hey Readers!

It’s back-to-school season, and you know what that means; back to gym class and forced physical activity. We all know that when the sun is shining and we have all that vacation time we get way more activity than we do the rest of the year. Normally, I’m no different. It’s natural to want to be outside and active when the days are beautiful and long. Before you fall into your old patterns take a look at the activities you enjoyed this summer and then find ways to keep that passion alive all year long. Continue reading

Hey Readers!

Can you believe summer is almost over? I do not feel like I’ve taken full advantage of the summer season, even with my earlier shifts at work. Though I did just travel to Mexico, and I got my husband to the pool for the first time a few weeks ago, AND I’ve been getting to rooftop yoga at the gym every other week. So often, we are doing so much and feeling like we aren’t doing enough. Am I right? While I was on my trip this past week, I ate SO MUCH FOOD. One of my travel mates kept talking about how she would need to workout twice as hard when she got home to lose all the weight she was sure she was gaining while we were there. That attitude annoyed me a bit because, while I am concerned about my weight and I do watch what I eat, I don’t like thinking of working out as a punishment or penalty for overeating. I also felt that with as much walking and sweating we were doing, it would all balance out in the end. When I got home I stepped on a scale out of curiosity and I was right. I hadn’t lost or gained weight during my trip. It all balances out. Continue reading

July Fitness Challenge

Hello Readers!

My fitness journey has taken me into all sorts of interesting places. This past month, I was approached by a personal trainer at my gym and offered a free consultation. I was neutral about the idea, because I’ve been doing this for a while and feel like I have an idea what I’m doing, but hey. I haven’t been making any progress on my own, and I can assume he has more professional experience, I can always stand to learn more, right? So, I took him up on the offer, and I stand corrected. While I do know more than the average bear about fitness, and the general rules of health, I still learned a hell of a lot in a short 45 minute session. I’m really excited to share these tips with you. Continue reading

June Fitness Challenge

Hey Readers!

We are well in to summer now. Can you feel it? It being the summer sun beating down on your skin while you run around doing whatever fun summer things you love to do! There is always so much to do when the sun is out, I don’t normally feel that way in the winter. I’m noticing it more and more each day as my standing weekly plans get rescheduled because someone, or many someones have conflicts. Or worse, when I break plans with myself to take advantage of the summer weather and activities around town.

May Fitness Challenge

Hey Readers!

Summer is here, or nearly so! This means lots more time outside, and my favorite, rooftop yoga! This is not something I have had the opportunity to partake in much, but my weekly yoga classes has recently been taking our evening unwind outside to bask in the light of the setting sun. Utterly peaceful. On the downside, with swimsuit season knocking on the door my “summer body” is not nearly ready. Ugh, forget that!! I hate the idea of a seasonal body. I have two amazing bathing suits perfect for any situation. I have a high-waisted galaxy print bikini with cutouts and support that is great for the beach or hot tubing at my mom’s house. It stays in place and I feel sexy in it. For more athletic swimming I have a one piece that slips up easily and stays in place, it has strategic draping and a flatter print that camouflages any bits I may be less than thrilled to expose in public. Must haves for Me Time and April Fitness

Hey Readers!!

End of last month I made my way down to Florida with my husband, look out for that trip guide, and so I haven’t posted in a minute, but I’m back again and feeling well rested. March was a busy month for me, and I’m still not happy with my progress, or lack thereof, with my fitness goals for 2018. I want to say that it is despite my continuous efforts, but my efforts have been slightly lacking, so really it is in spite of them. None-the-less, I persist. Continue reading
