Varietal and Color: In Action

Hey Readers,

So, Sunday we talked about how wine varietals got their color and realized that the color of the grape itself has little to do with the color of the wine it produces. Red hued fruit can easily produce white, pink or even orange tinted wine, all depending on the whimsy of the creator. But I still wonder how that effects the taste. So.. I picked up a couple bottles of wine, and did a taste test. I wanted to keep them all the same brand to keep the style consistent; however my stores didn’t carry Sutter Home Pinot Grigio or ¬†Zinfandel, so I used Rex Goliath for those to at least keep the quality consistent.¬† Continue reading
